ANALOG VS. DIGITAL RECORDING

In simple terms, sound waves are continuous waves.....and analog recording is a reproduction of the continuous sound wave compared to digital recording which takes a sample of sound bites. Vinyl records are a method of reproducing these waves on a continuous strip (in the groove) while digital sound bites are a string of sound samples. TURNTABLE MANUFACTURERS

While vinyl records have been making a strong resurgence among music fans some of the most popular turntable manufacturers from years past did not survive the advent of digital music formats in the mass market. Here is a list of some of the turntable brands which are still going strong along with links to their websites:

DENON

THORENS

REGA

SOTA TURNTABLES

CROSLEY

The above list is far from complete one and we will add to it over time.

A number of other brands, some of them great models are no longer in production however can often be obtained second hand or reconditioned.

VINYL RECORD MANUFACTURERS

With the current growth in popularity of vinyl records, new releases in vinyl and special edition re-releases of past hit records on vinyl have created new opportunities for the manufacturing (also called pressing) of records. Here are a couple of manufacturers who specialize in the pressing of 7" and 12" vinyl records and also offer complete packaging solutions for recording artists wishing to release a vinyl single or LP album.
